Thank you, Dr. Tom, for the new article that I've posted in the 'words' section. I enjoyed this one particularly since I've chosen to bypass the consumerism aspect of xmas this year. Instead I plan to show my generosity in other ways. Tammy and I are going to cook a meal for my parents when we visit them and they're going to cook one for us in exchange. We just don't need any more stuff and would rather not be a part of the shopping frenzy. My CR trip w/ Jordy was just about over at this time last year. I can't believe it's already been a whole year. The memories are so clear still. I can smell the air and hear the sounds of the beach and feel the warm water at Mal Pais. I remember the excitement of reconnecting with one of my best friends in the small San Jose airport, then driving and taking the ferry. Jordy's excellent Spanish skills. Arriving at the surf camp after dark and getting up early in the morning to walk down to the beach and get in the water for the first waves of the day. Then to find that our shoes had been stolen from the bushes we hid them in when we got out. 'Oh well' we thought - we didn't really care, but it was a long walk back to camp barefoot through the unknown plants in the jungle and on the sharp gravel road. Then the week of nothing but surfing, eating, sleeping, ping pong, and pool that followed. Pure heaven. How many times in the past year have I wondered if I could have said or done anything to help Jordy during that trip? A lot. As much as I know that that time has passed and my job is to be ok with the way things are here and now today, the question lingers. I imagine we all have similar questions we ask ourselves.Reading the new article from Dr. Tom I felt a presence from Jordy. After all they share the same blood. A part of me felt relief knowing that Jordy is still here with us in many ways.Happy holidays to everyone - let the spirit of generosity be a reminder that we can practice generosity every day of the year if we choose to.Stevep.s. if anyone is having trouble posting to this board, please draft your post in a word/text document and copy/paste it into here so that it is not lost if it doesn't work.
