thinking of you Jordan. such positive memories I have of you. thanks, bro
Thanks for the posts, and pics. I see Jordan a lot in different people. It is usually in the young observing look of someone listening like an artist. I still have so much love for him, and enjoy keeping his message alive.
Jordan's grandmother always wanted 4 boy children and Julia's Nahant picture #4 shows them: her only son & the 3 grandsons. Love, Aunt Trix
sweet photos and touching story of the beads......and I am so glad that you got the photo of your work in Thrasher Jud I will be watching for it... I always think I should establish a Jordan Lee Art Competition at some community college in his memory but as TS Elliot said in 1925 "between the idea and the action lies the shadow"
Still thinking of Jordan all the time - thanks go to Ian and Julia for sending in the recent pictures that I've posted.I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the season.Steve
Thinking of Jordan and Aunt Katie today, wish you were here... I always always looked up to him and was inspired by his spirit. Today is my first day as a physician and I promise to carry that loving, peaceful spirit with me and treat all my patients with respect and compassion, no matter what. Miss you much! Hope all is well with all of you who loved and miss Jordan!
I submitted the Dia de los Muertos memorial that I made for Jordy to Thrasher magazine, and they are going to run a LARGE photo of it. Once I find out what month it will run, I'll post here. For now, I'm just happy that Jordan will be in Thrasher.
I just wanted to say how very sad I am today....I met Jordan when I was 18yrs old. He was living near campus in Eugene in a basement and I think it was on 6th Street. My house had burned down a few months earlier and I had lost everything. Prior to my house burning down I had a bunch of snakes & lizards as pets. They all died in the fire and a friend of mine had rounded up the bones from two of them. He gave me the bones but I didn't know what to do with them. One day I was sitting at Jordans house drinking a beer (he used to buy me beer at this time since he was 3yrs older than me) and we were talking about the fire and my reptiles. I told him I had these bones but didn't know what to do with them. Jordan says to me..."hey bro let me make you some beads and we can string it up on a sick rope!" His work was so good I was like hell ya man!! So he did....I wore that necklace everyday for 10yrs. It went to dozens upon dozens of concerts, it went to the top of mountains, it went to countless parties and it was there for all the girls I will never forget! I still have it, it is right here next to me. A few beads are missing, the bones are no longer white and it had to be restrung a few times. I gave it to a girl once because I was young and in love and confused. Lucky she was a good enough of a friend to give it back to me. People used to ask me....why do you always wear that man? And I would say....this is one of my most prized possessions. Because it symbolizes friendship to me. I am sure I will always have it....Jordan and me have the same birthday. I think that is one of the things that made us "click" from the get go. He and I were not close or tight bros. But he went out of his way to be extra nice to me. He left an impression on me that will always be here. I had always hoped in the back of my mind that he and I might cross paths again someday.I realize it has been 3 1/2yrs since Jordan left us. But I found out this morning and I am very very sad.
Catherine the book you referred to was based upon my trip with J to Disneyworld I still remember the trip many many funny things happened thanks for writing in and hi to Steve, Tim, Trix and the rest also Jules Hey Jules hope all is well in med school do not become one of the many docs who just grind away and forget to actually help the patient
More memories- I remember the birthday his Uncle sent him on a treasure hunt- the clues were really hard but it was so much fun, so much thought and love went into it. I remember him making his beads and baking them - such a big guy, big hands making such small masterpieces. I remember a bunch of us going to Friendly's and Jordan order some 4 banana ice cream thing - i didn't think all of us together could finish it but Jordan ate the whole thing solo 🙂 To Jordan's dad- we never met, but he talked about you a lot in high school, you were always a large part of his world, heart, and day.
I found out about Jordan this week and my heart bleeds.... I remember high school hanging out at his place, I remember he kept a short story by his bedside his dad wrote him when he was a child and how much he loved it- how much he loved his family and friends. His talent went beyond art, he was a good soul, and I miss him but I'm grateful I knew him and will never forget him.
I LOVE looking at the pics of Jordan.....He was the nicest guy I ever met, and I miss the warmth of his smile, & his silly and sharp sense of humor. Jordan was a master of mediums, a true blessed spirit, full of kindness. I'll truly miss him,,, till I see him next...

Merry Xmas to all who are a part of this great website I am about to do a piece on funeral architecture and this web site is a perfect example of a great architectural site perhaps not as famous as Maya Lin's work with the Vietnam War Memorial in DC but perfect for me thank you Steve Hey Jud get in touch with me
Merry Christmas in heaven Jordan
I had no idea that Jordan died. I look for him occasionally online and was heartbroken when today i finally found this tribute site. Jordan and I went to high school together. He was my first kiss. I will never ever forget him and his sweet and seemingly sparkling smile. Actually, it's not a coincidence that I was searching for Jordan today as I tend to think of him whenever I see David Gregory, the now host of Sunday's "Meet the Press." There's a similarity to their smiles which makes me think of Jordan. My deepest sympathies to Jordan's family and friends - I hope you find some comfort knowing that I also carry him with me every day, in my best memories of childhood, and will always remember him as adorably sexy, unique and talented. My condolences. [email protected]
Thanks Trix it is amazing how the couple seems to die together
Oh Tom I am so sorry. They had such a long & loving marriage, just had to be together again. Please know our hearts are with you & your family xo Trix
oh boy another death in the family Maxine passed away 3 weeks after Charlie
had such an interesting dream about J and his mom last nite he was running around in the woods and i was looking for him
Just checking in on the site while J was on my mind. Nice shrine by Jud, I wish I hadn't let all my Jordan beads slip away. I met up with another old Newton boy a few weeks ago and we had some lovely conversations about old times with J. Good times.
The 'words' section has been updated w/ Dr. Tom's new piece. Thanks Tom - your insight is very refreshing and helpful in dealing with dying and death. I lost an uncle this past winter and my Mom lost her childhood best friend just yesterday. Both had lived a full life. Life teaches us what we need to know about death and how to deal with it - IF we want to learn. Jordan visited me in a dream last week just to keep in touch. A co-worker commented on how much he liked one of Jordy's paintings on my office wall this week.
Jud make sure you look at the words section in a week or so I did something on art and loss that i will expand on for an art mag with your piece in mind
Have felt Jordan very close for the last couple of weeks, probably because of his grampa. Love and blessings to all of you.
just clebrated 6 yrs of sobriety..jordon played a huge part in my 1st yr or 2..i will always be so thankful to him..i miss you jordo
Today I got the news of Jordan's death. I am so very sad. I knew Jordan back in Eugene days from the yellow house days with Buddy, Dave, Steve. I always loved Jordan and his big smile. I think we shared a couple kisses but honestly can't remember for sure. The pain I feel in my heart and my ribs right now. Ooooh ouch ache.jordan, jordan, I'm so sorry your not on the earth today. Our paths diverged long ago and you have always stayed in my thoughts. In fact, less than a week ago I asked on old Eugene acquantance if they had heard about where you were at in life. They didn't know either. I did heroin too for a while and lost another dear friend along the way, and almost myself. Jordan, did you just want to feel better? Your paintings blow me away. I remember your art. Even though I have not seen you for years, I will miss you dearly, the memories of just haaaaaanging out, snowboarding, being young. Jordan. Jordan. Jordan. Jordan. I will miss you. I do miss you. Rest in peace.
Tom Ferraro, I have known you for nearly three years now. I admire your strength... Sorry for the lose of your Dad but even more for the tragic lose of your son Jordan...I would like to give my opinion to the question you pose... I think it is a american generational thing. Your fathers generation like my mothers had no choice they had to create their own opportunities, invent them if you will. They paid the price... Our generation the baby boomers had much more opportunities, but we were expected to go out and get it, pay the price... We I think may have made it too easy for our children trying so hard to make their lives so much better, too much too soon...Unfortunately the american dream is harder and getting even harder to attain,it's not something that we or our children were prepared for... My mother always said there is a price you must pay...for whatever success, money ,a marriage, career...So perhaps they don't want to pay the price because it is just too hard...Live in the moment Live hard Have fun Get it all in while you can. I can't say as I blame them...We thought is was going to be easier too, but there will still always be a price to pay...
Hi Dr. Tom - sorry to hear about the loss of a family elder, but it sounds like he had a full and productive life. Hopefully the service was a good chance to connect with family you don't see often. The memorial piece I did for Jordan is in an art show that opens in October. I'll take pictures and put a link to them here, so you can see people learning about the wonderful being we called Jordan. I put a price tag of 2,000 on it, and if it sells, I'm donating all the funds to the Buckley House, a local drug and alcohol treatment center in Eugene (with very poor funding). If it doesn't sell, I will send it to you, or ask where you'd like it to go.
hello all Jordans grandddaddied last wednesday and i go to his funeral monday so differnet then J's death in that he led such a good and full life died in his sleep at 94 will write about his and j's death in an upcoming psychoanalytic journal if anyone has insinghts or feelings let me know asap i will try to use them
Jud; What a remarkable piece of work you did I want to thank you for creting it. The symbols were so meaningful to me and to him . He loved to paint the image of the hexagon which appears in your image of the molecular structure of heroin I need to read up on the Dia de los Muertos I am going to present at an American Psychological Association in San Antonio in the Spring on cross cultural psychoanaylsis and may choose to develop something on this idea thanks again I will email you more on all this
Jud: would very much like to see the piece you did about Jordan contact me at [email protected] Thanks
I didn't realize the links I provided below wouldn't actually work as active links. Sorry, but if you want to look, you'll need to copy them, and paste them into your browser bar.
I recently completed a sculptural memorial to Jordan, that I respectfully would like to share here with people who love him. In Eugene, there is an annual art show based on the Mexican "Dia de los Muertos" holiday. I decided to make an altar to Jordan, and after I'd started, I saw the photo here of his tattoo with the skull with flower-eyes, which is a traditional symbol from that holiday. I had never seen it before, so it was a powerful connection and affirmation that I was doing something he'd approve of. Here is the piece:http://judturner.com/new_work_gal/new_gal37.htmlAnd here is an explanation of the symbols used:http://judturner.com/new_work_gal/new_gal37_info.htmlI hope this sculpture gives the viewer pleasant memories of Jordy, as it did for me when I was making it.
Oops, New Hampshire! Cousin Travis lives there now, in Manchester...
Tom, Wish Simon all the happiness in the world from us. And enjoy Vermont, it's so beautiful there!
Ging up to Simon's wedding in new hampshire next week this was j's closest cousin miss jordan very much!!!
That memory reminds me of the Bob Dylan song "Hey Mr Tamborine Man" which has a line that goes"Yes to dance beneath the dainmond sky, with one hand waving free, silhouetted by the sea, cricled by the circus sands" nice memory
favorite memory: Going to the sand dunes at the Oregon Coast with Jordan and a few friends. Running down a huge dune, in the middle of the night (moonlight shining so bright that it caused shadows), in our underpants (it was a warm night). You would get going so fast that your legs could barely keep up with your body. Good times.
Steve nice memory here is one for you......let me see.......Maybe my funniest memory is when I took J to Disney World He was maybe 6 or 7 we walked up the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House very tight up we went it got higher and higher tight ropes on each side then J had enough he said 'I want to get down I am afraid ' But there were people all behind us we called a guard he stopped the line pulled us off he was tres scared and said "No more Treee Houses Dad!"
Thinking of you today, Big Guy, wish I could call you up and say What's up, come visit! Love you lots, Aunt Trix
Slam the rules.
I've been trying to think of my favorite memory, but it's just a flood of them. Here's one: we spent a day in France skating the park in Marsaille and then swam in the warm ocean right next to the park to cool off, then relaxed on the beach. Then we stayed in a hotel that overlooked the marina that night. It was a great day. Jordy's great spanish made all of our food and housing negotiations painless. There are pics from that day on this site.
Steve It is so nice to see you have great memories of J....Tell me your favorite
I'm still having a hard time with this - I guess it'll always be that way. So many amazing memories - some of the best times of my life for sure.I'm grateful for those memories.Happy Spring 2008 to all.
hello to all and happy easter to all especially Jordan
