Dr. Tom,Great to hear that you got to spend some time in the ocean - it really does keep a person humble. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I remember my first surf w/ Jordan in CR - I yelled over to him and said 'that is first time I ever saw you ride a wave!' heh. Seeing him surf made me smile - it's such a great thing to get to share w/ friends.

A note to Peter and to Steve.....I was in Florida this weekend and as i rode some waves and body surfed I was smacked arund real good. The ocean is pretty tough and I thought how brave Jordan was and how much he must have loved speed to be able to surf. The waves look so small from the beach but are so huge when you are in them...

Today the surfers are in the water in Bay Head (exit98.com). Last night just before I left work there was a piece on a web news window about the great waves on the West Coast. Later the Travel channel had a story about Highway One and a surfing school there. On Letterman last night there was a guy from Rockaway.Dear Jordan, thanks for making your presence known to me yesterday and today. I will always love you and miss you and find more joy in the sea because of you.Love, Aunt Trix

Thank you, Dr. Tom, for the new article that I've posted in the 'words' section. I enjoyed this one particularly since I've chosen to bypass the consumerism aspect of xmas this year. Instead I plan to show my generosity in other ways. Tammy and I are going to cook a meal for my parents when we visit them and they're going to cook one for us in exchange. We just don't need any more stuff and would rather not be a part of the shopping frenzy. My CR trip w/ Jordy was just about over at this time last year. I can't believe it's already been a whole year. The memories are so clear still. I can smell the air and hear the sounds of the beach and feel the warm water at Mal Pais. I remember the excitement of reconnecting with one of my best friends in the small San Jose airport, then driving and taking the ferry. Jordy's excellent Spanish skills. Arriving at the surf camp after dark and getting up early in the morning to walk down to the beach and get in the water for the first waves of the day. Then to find that our shoes had been stolen from the bushes we hid them in when we got out. 'Oh well' we thought - we didn't really care, but it was a long walk back to camp barefoot through the unknown plants in the jungle and on the sharp gravel road. Then the week of nothing but surfing, eating, sleeping, ping pong, and pool that followed. Pure heaven. How many times in the past year have I wondered if I could have said or done anything to help Jordy during that trip? A lot. As much as I know that that time has passed and my job is to be ok with the way things are here and now today, the question lingers. I imagine we all have similar questions we ask ourselves.Reading the new article from Dr. Tom I felt a presence from Jordy. After all they share the same blood. A part of me felt relief knowing that Jordy is still here with us in many ways.Happy holidays to everyone - let the spirit of generosity be a reminder that we can practice generosity every day of the year if we choose to.Stevep.s. if anyone is having trouble posting to this board, please draft your post in a word/text document and copy/paste it into here so that it is not lost if it doesn't work. You can always email your post to me and I'll put it in here. [email protected]

It is now or very soon the anniversary of J's death. So I think for me and Peter and Steve and Trixie and Tim and all their beautiful kids it is a time of some mourning. I will send a recent article about Xmas ("Jingle Bells!") to our 'words' section and you will see that I suppose I am struggling with sadness during this holiday season. It for sure is always a funny time of year and I hope you like the piece.

Hey guys,Pete, good to hear you had a great time in MX. Davey, good to hear you're still skating like always. Dr. Tom, hope all's well with you. I've been surfing a lot - this is the time of year when we get all the good waves coming down from the pacific NW. Had a phenomenal weekend a couple weeks ago. Married life is great - I didn't think getting married would change our relationship much, but it really has. It feels great to have that deeper level of confidence and security. Well, I hope you are all enjoying the fall colors and crisp air out on the East coast. It's starting to feel like fall out here in SF too.Take care.

And,friend,Rue, also contacted me within the last few days trying to get Palfrey st alumni back in touch via my space. All this really made me wonder. I was so pleased to read the last entrance and to see how close Jordan was to you. It is funny but i would love to go to the movies with Jordan too and a friend of mine said to me she never saw me happier then when I was sitting in the movies and talking to Jordan about the flick. More recently I keep seeing all the photos of Jordan around my home and keep getting angrier and angrier that he is no longer here with us. I think I am about to do another piece about his death for Clio's Psyche which is a psychoanalytic journal and I will submit it here as well.

I feel silly or unworthy and I guess that's why i never sign my name. Yet still every day I look at pictures of you and I miss you so terribly. I just saw Little Miss Sunshine and I know you would have loved it. That was our thing, seeing movies together, and you saw many awful ones on account of me; but I know we both would have enjoyed that one. And I hate and love that for the rest of my life I am going to unavoidabley recall times with you when I see a good movie or learn of a beautiful new band. I don't want to have to miss you anymore; but I don't want to forget you, you mean so much. and yes i am an ass, but I don't understand what life means and that increible you isn't here figuring it out with me makes it all the more meaningless. But I can still see your huge grin and I know you would have me continue and your smile is one of the more personal reasons I do. I love you always.

Now I grieve for Jordan's returning even so it is too late. I appreciated some of his art works on the website. Those are so unique, artistic and beautiful. It is so regrettable for us to lose this competent and promising, young artist and athlete. But I believe he still lives in the Heaven and does his works every day.I, a Korean psychiatrist heard of him briefly from his father, Dr.Ferraro, who is my teacher in sport psychology. I can't find the word to console and comfort for Dr. Ferraro. None could even imagine the feeling of such a loss.

Hello to Steve, Peter, Julia and everyone. Thank you Pete for the kind support over fathers day. I went to FLA and was with Simon (my brother's son)and my own dad and we had a make believe seance to communicate with Jordan. It didnt work and as I thought about how to contact him it dawned on me this morning that Jordan's spirit is on this web site and the only reason we all talk to each other is thanks to Jordan. So in some way the way I talk to Jordan is by typing on the guestbook site. So thank you Steve for putting it together and thanks to everyone for contributing. I do not know who wrote the song but it was perfect and I wonder what it sounds like in person. Maybe we can put sound on the website?

Dr. Tom, Jordan often spoke to me about how you were there for him especially in recent years with his struggle to stay sober. As Fathers Day passes I hope you rest assure that you were there when he needed you.It must be a difficult time.On Fathers Day Itook Jordans surf board and went to the beach early morn. The winds were kickn, the water freezing and the surf was a mess.I took a seat and thought of all the days last year when Jordan and I would race to the beach and it was a sloppy mess. Jordan would say "it looks a little sketchy but lets give it a shot anyway",and we would paddle around till our arms were falling off, laughing and talking and acting like 2 idiots.I would give a thousand "great surf days" for just an hour of paddling around with him in the messy white wash.So I just sat there and never went in.Im not as motivated.Ill try again soon.

When they told me that you were gone, I wanted everybody to be wrong, I hoped for days they'd all been misinformed. I called your phone but there was no one home. and to hell with this whole world and to hell with everything and to hell with god above for allowing this thing to happen to you. Beautiful wonderful you.And now the closest that I'll ever come is the place where I can kneel six feet above your handsome face. The place where I will have to fight the urge to open the ground and hold you tight. to hell with it all how can this be right. and to hell with this whole world and to hell with everything and to hell with god above for allowing this thing to happen to you. Wonderful incredible youThe absence of your gentle eyes on this earth makes me question what any of this is really worth. I miss the sound of your voice and the rhythm of your speech; but most of all I miss the idea you will die a satisfied old man in your sleep. and to hell with this whole world and to hell with everything and to hell with god above for allowing this thing to happen to you. beautiful wonderful youThese kids with their hard heads sticking needles in their soft arms, it's so casual like going for a swim, taking for granted that they'll see the shore again.and to hell with this whole world and to hell with everything and to hell with god above for allowing this thing to happen to you. Beautiful wonderful you. And some folks they may judge the dead, without ever walking near the deadman's shoes. They don''t know how much a man has already lost, they have no idea how much he has left to lose. So much, So much, we all lost so much, this world lost so much when it lost you. and to hell with this cold world for not pausing in it's spin to mourn the loss of amazing him.and to hell with this whole world and to hell with everything and to hell with god above for allowing this thing to happen to you. Beautiful wonderful you. and to hell with me because there is nothing I can do to make what's happenned not be true.-I hope no one finds the words distasteful, writing the song was just something that was helpful to me and I wanted to share it with people who care about Jordan who is in my thoughts and heart every single day. Love you Jordan

Dear Dr. Ferraro, I visit this website frequently. I didn't know your son very well at all and obviously was shocked to hear he died after years of struggling with addiction. I worked with him frequently from September through November last year. I was often in the production office and he was runnin' around in the truck, but we had a few great conversations. One night, we were shooting in Montclair, NJ, and he was bumming because the shoot was going long, it was a Friday night, and he was going to have to postpone a "hot date" he had with a "fine lady" as he put it. We were laughing and telling stories and enjoying one of those lulls in the frenetic activity on the set. What a fantastic smile he had! I told him about my two sons. He wanted to know what they were into and I said "Skateboarding!" I will never forget how his brow darkened and he said, "Be careful. There are a lot og drugs in that scene!" And then we chatted about skateboarding, surfing, teenagers, his upcoming trip to Costa Rica, life, art, etc. He was so smart and interesting. I went home and asked my kids the next day if anyone they've met while skating had ever offered them drugs? They said no and we had a good conversation (not the first, nor the last) about drugs, keeping healthy and clean, and the perils of addiction. The next time I worked with Jordan we spent some time schlepping props down a huge freight elevator. A nothing sort of task, a mundane moment, an unremarkable moment in the course of a day in production, but I remember being happy it was him, and how we laughed, and joked, and just what a super nice sweet guy he was. I was just devestated to hear he had died. Three days ago while I was driving to a job at Silvercup Studios at like 5am, NPR played a commentary by Jim Bildner (you can still hear it on the NPR website) about drugs and the untimely overdose of his son at 21 yrs of age last year. His main point was that parents in this country need to realize that addiction can happen to any kid of any background. He said he himself was, and many of the parents he encountered from the time his son became a heroin addict in high school, were in denial. So OK I am not in denial about who can become an addict. I know just from my own friends and family that ANYONE can become an addict. So I am not in denial about that, but what then must we do? Is there really anything you can do as a parent to help your child avoid this disease? Really? I mean I do everything you're "supposed" to do: love and care for my sons, try to give them ample opportunity to dream and succeed, dole out consequences for bad behavior, talk to them about addiction and drugs/alcohol... But my guess is that you did all those things too. Is there anything one can do as a parent to prevent this tragedy? Or is it a destiny thing for that individual? My heart goes out to you and your family. Jordan was a beautiful, talented man. A beautiful, beautiful man. It is just impossible to accept that he is gone too soon.

Tammy and I are getting married in Mexico next week. Jordan was supposed to be one of my groomsmen, he hadn't bought his tickets yet when I was bugging him about it in Costa Rica, but he kept saying that he'd be there. And he will be, I believe that. I'm going ride a wave with thoughts of him the morning of my wedding, and then pour out a drink for him in the sand that night. I know he'll be there to give me strength and courage as I stand at the altar and exchange vows. I'm a stronger, more confident person because of Jordan's influence on me. I'm grateful for that.
